Truck-mounted cranes are referred to as loader cranes, boom trucks or lorry-mounted cranes in various markets. They are flatbed vehicles fitted with a hydraulic crane installed between the cab and flat deck. The truck transports loads like any ordinary flatbed, and can lift those goods once it reaches the job site. A single driver and one set of running expenses, yet it completes two separate tasks.
What’s the benefit of going with a 6x4 setup instead of 4x2?
A 4x2 crane truck fits a 6.3-ton crane on a 16–19 ton chassis. It does the job fine on solid, firm ground, but hits problems on soft terrain. Since it only has one drive axle, the rear tyres tend to sink once you extend the boom and hoist a load.
A used Japanese crane truck dating back to the 90s might look cheap at first glance, yet you’re buying a unit with 500,000 km on the clock, no clear maintenance records, plus a hydraulic system where spare parts are extremely hard to source.. A Dongfeng or FAW crane truck in the same tonnage costs less FOB and will do the job, though the GIGA cab, the 6UZ1 driveline and the resale value sit a step above. A dedicated mobile crane plus a separate flatbed costs about twice as much to buy, needs two operators and two sets of paperwork. The middle path, one truck that carries and lifts, is what most contractors in West Africa, East Africa and the Gulf end up buying.
We mount the crane on a genuine ISUZU GIGA chassis in our own plant. Crane brand and tonnage, bed length, outrigger type, winch, steering side, paint and your fleet decals are all locked into the PI before steel is cut.
The load chart is where the honest selling happens:

4.5 m | 4,400 kg |
7.0 m | 2,500 kg |
9.0 m | 1,750 kg |
11.5 m | 1,100 k |

Longer-boom variants exist for each class, and the 8 ton crane also comes with a 5-section boom that reaches 14.5 m at a 13 m radius. We quote both so you can see the price gap before you pick.
Applications
Construction and infrastructure. Steel, formwork, pipes and generators come off the bed and onto site without a crane hire and without idle time while you wait for one.
Power and utilities. Transformer sets, concrete poles and cable drums for grid crews, plus the man basket option for streetlight and line work.
Oil, gas and mining. Field pipe, drilling tools and pump sets moved and set in one pass on sites a mobile crane cannot reach.
Municipal and landscaping. Trees, culverts, kerb stones and park equipment, one truck doing the work of a flatbed and a small crane.
Rental and equipment trading. Operators who hire the truck out by the day want a machine that does two jobs and stays booked. That is this one.
Product Line
Crane capacity is the first choice you make, and it drives everything else. The 6.3 ton build suits pipe yards, light steel and workshop deliveries where the loads are long rather than heavy. The 8 ton truck is the volume seller and covers most construction, utility and municipal work. The 10 ton and 12 ton versions step up on the same 25 ton chassis with a reinforced subframe and rear outrigger. The 16 ton build moves onto the heavier GIGA chassis with the 6WG1 engine and a 33,000 to 35,000 kg GVW, aimed at precast concrete, plant hire and heavy steel. Alongside crane size you pick bed length, steering side and emission level. Euro 2 and Euro 3 are the usual export specs for Africa and the Middle East, Euro 5 and Euro 6 for markets with inspection regimes. LHD is standard from the factory and RHD conversion suits Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Pakistan and Bangladesh. If you are not sure which one fits your work, send the heaviest load, the reach you need and a photo of the site, and we will spec the crane and the chassis for you.
