How to remove the wax from the truck body?

Publish Time: 2025-12-05     Origin: Site

To prevent acid and alkali damage to truck paint during storage and long-distance transportation (especially by sea), truck manufacturers apply a special transportation protective wax to the paint surface before the truck leaves the factory.

Because imported and exported truck require long sea voyages, grease-based sealing waxes are often used. Grease-based sealing waxes form a very hard, semi-transparent protective layer on the paint surface, effectively preventing scratches from foreign objects or other minor human-caused damage during transportation. Even highly alkaline seawater splashing onto the truck body surface will not cause damage. It effectively protects new truck from harmful substances for one year after they leave the factory.

If the protection is only for a short period after the new truck leaves the factory, silicone-based protective wax is often used. This forms a transparent protective layer on the truck's surface, effectively preventing damage from sunlight, ultraviolet rays, acids, alkalis, tree branches, sand, and other harmful gases.

Because "transport protective wax" is different from regular wax in its shine, it's applied thickly and hardly, that lacking any luster and having poor breathability. The dust is easily accumulates on the vehicle body, which making it difficult to clean and severely affecting its appearance. Furthermore, if the wax remains on the paint surface for an extended period, it can transform into harmful substances that corrode the truck body.

Generally, once a new truck arrives at its destination, the transport protective wax is removed before it's sold. This process of removing the protective wax is called "waxing the new truck."

Do all new truck need waxing?

  • Not all Truck use protective wax, so some dealers may neglect to remove it. If your truck has "transport protective wax" on the surface after purchase, you should have it removed at a professional truck detailing shop.

  • Tools needed to remove wax:

  • A dedicated truck wash sponge, a medium-density sponge with excellent containment, deeply traps sand and dust in its pores during cleaning, preventing scratches from hard scrubbing tools that can't hold the sand. Combined with a highly lubricating anionic surfactant (high-foaming truck wash liquid), it ensures a flawless operation.

  • A high-density cotton towel is needed for three waxing steps. Its soft texture means that even after washing the rear surface of the truck, some residue may remain, and waxing will not cause significant damage to the paint.

  • A plastic shaped scraper(filled with pure cotton) is a type of scraper material that is relatively soft and has a certain degree of flexibility, so it will not damage the body paint during operation.

  • When using towel to wipe the truck body, the protective goggles can prevent chemicals from your eyes.

  • Because the wax remover with strong penetrating power, it can be harmful to the skin, so rubber gloves should be used.

  • Wax removal procedure: The steps for removing wax vary depending on the type of sealant.

Grease Sealing and Wax Removal Procedure:

  1. First, washing away the dirt on the truck body, then wash the truck body with the prepared dewaxing truck wash solution. No need to dry after washing.

  2. Spraying the grease-removing wax truck wash solution evenly on the truck body.

  3. After drying for 3 minutes, spray a little water, wipe the truck body with a semi-damp towel, then wash the entire truck with the prepared dewaxing truck wash solution. No need to dry.

  4. Spraying the grease-removing wax truck wash solution on body again, let it dry for 1 minute, then wipe the plate with a semi-damp towel again. Then the  remaining sealant wax should be completely removed.

  5. Spraying the resin removing wax wash solution on the silicone protective wax evenly.

  6. Washing the entire truck again with the prepared dewaxing truck wash solution, then let it dry before waxing.

Silicone Protective Wax Removal Procedure:

  • Cleaning large particle deposits on the truck body.

  • Spraying strong dewaxing truck wash solution evenly on the truck body using a sprayer.

  • Using truck wash sponge to quickly wipe the entire truck in sequence, following the order of the truck panels.

  • Finally, using high-pressure water gun to wash away the wax and dirt removed from the truckbody, let it dry, and then apply wax.

New Truck Waxing Precautions: When high-pressure washing, the pressure should not exceed 7MPa. Only wash away dust, sand, and other impurities that may affect the wax removal effect; the wax spray must be even, and corners and crevices should not be neglected; after spraying the wax with boiling water, wait until the boiling water has completely penetrated and dissolved the wax layer (about 5-10 minutes) before wiping with a towel; the final cleaning and drying should be carried out according to the truck wash operating procedures, because some wax and impurities may remain on the surface after cleaning and waxing with waxing liquid; after waxing, be sure to apply a protective wax.
