Product Introduction
A flatbed wrecker, which half the market calls a rollback, slide bed, tilt tray or carrier, is a light truck with a hydraulic platform that tilts to the ground and slides back so a disabled vehicle can be winched straight on. It carries the casualty on the deck instead of dragging it on its own wheels. No driveline damage, no shredded tires, no argument with the insurance company.
The 4x2 layout is the right answer for city and regional work. It fits a 5,995 mm overall length into streets a 6x4 recovery truck cannot enter, turns tighter, and burns around 12 litres per 100 km against 30 plus for a heavy unit. A 4x2 also does not need the licence category a heavy wrecker does in most markets, which decides who can drive it and what you pay them.
Then there is the one-tow-two trick, and this is where the money sits. This truck is not deck-only. It carries 4,000 kg on the platform and tows a second vehicle on the 3,000 kg hydraulic underlift at the same time. On the highway that means one run instead of two, and one dispatcher call instead of two. Operators on short-haul contracts notice that on the second week of the month.
Against the alternatives, the case gets clearer. A used Japanese 4x2 carrier from the 2000s costs less up front and then eats you alive on hydraulics nobody stocks. A hook and chain truck is cheaper still and damages every car it touches, which ends the insurance work. A heavy 6x4 wrecker handles big rigs and never shows up for a Corolla. The middle path is a light 4x2 slide bed, which is why this is the highest-volume recovery truck class in the world by revenue.
We build the hydraulic upper body in our own plant on a genuine Foton Aumark S chassis, not on a grey-import cut-down. Deck length, underlift rating, winch brand, control position, steering side, paint and your fleet decals are fixed in the PI before steel is cut.
Technical Specifications
This truck runs on the Foton Cummins F3.8s3141 diesel unit. It’s a 3.76-litre four-cylinder engine fitted with turbo and intercooler, putting out 105kW (141 HP) at 2600 rpm. You get 450 N.m peak torque between 1300–1500 rpm, which is exactly the rev range you’ll rely on when pulling a disabled vehicle up a slippery ramp.
It’s paired with a ZF 6S558 6-speed manual gearbox. The single-plate dry diaphragm clutch comes with hydraulic assistance, so the clutch pedal stays light even when you’re doing repeated stop-start work. The truck carries a 120-litre fuel tank.
Chassis numbers. Wheelbase 3,360 mm on the standard deck, 3,800 mm for the 5.6 metre platform. Front axle 2.85 tons, rear axle 6 tons at 4.33 ratio. Tires 8.25R16, six plus one spare. Air brakes with ABS and a spring park brake. 24 volt electrics. Overall dimensions 5,995 x 2,300 x 2,450 mm with a curb weight of 3,800 kg. Top speed 98 km/h, approach and departure angles 20 and 16 degrees.

Your deck length is the biggest decision you’ll make for this truck.
Go with the 4.2m platform: it works for sedans and small vans, and keeps the total GVW under 4,495 kg. In many markets, that means you only need a standard car licence to drive it, no heavy truck licence required.
Jump up to the 5.6m deck, and you can haul pickups, minibuses and 1-ton vans — but the GVW rises to 8,275 kg.
Get this choice wrong, and you’ll either lose jobs you can’t handle, or end up paying for capacity you’ll never actually use.
Our Services
Customization : deck length 4,200, 5,200 or 5,600 mm; deck capacity 3, 4 or 5 tons; underlift 2, 2.5 or 3 tons; winch 4 or 5 tons; hydraulic tail plate standard or extended; underlift wheel brackets for cars, vans or light trucks; Italian or Chinese hydraulic valves; dual-side linkage control or joystick panel with gauges; LHD or RHD; LED strobe bar with siren and loud hailer; rear work lights; stainless or carbon steel toolbox; body colour and your logo on the doors, deck sides and headboard. Every line is written into the PI before the chassis is booked.
Packaging & logistics : lead time 30 to 45 working days from the 30 percent deposit. MOQ is one unit and a single truck is a normal order here. Nude packing with full anti-rust wax on the deck, chassis and hydraulic rams before loading, with the loose equipment crated separately. We ship RORO from Shanghai or Qingdao, or break bulk and 40-foot flat rack if that prices better into your port. CIF and DAP quotes are routine, and for landlocked buyers we handle the rail or road leg as well.
Quality & certification : the plant holds ISO 9001 and the chassis carries CCC, with the Foton factory warranty behind the Aumark S driveline. Every wrecker runs a hydraulic pressure hold test at 1.5 times working pressure, a winch pull test to rated load, a full tilt and slide cycle under load, an underlift raise and extend check, an air brake and steering inspection, and an underbody leak check before release. Documents that ship with the vehicle: COC, certificate of origin, commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, English operation manual and a spare parts list. The truck arrives ready to work, with the tie-down straps, L-type tire stoppers, auxiliary dolly wheels and toolbox on board.
Applications
Highway and roadside assistance : clearing breakdowns and light accidents on routes where a heavy recovery truck is overkill and cannot get there in time.
City parking enforcement : removing illegally parked and abandoned cars without a hook and chain, so the vehicle comes off the street undamaged and the impound argument never starts.
Car dealerships and auctions : moving non-running trade-ins, auction buys and showroom stock between sites on one truck, often two at a time.
Insurance and fleet recovery : contracted recovery for leasing companies, rental fleets and logistics operators who want their own first-response unit rather than a third-party callout.
Auto repair workshops : collecting customer vehicles from home or roadside, which turns a tow charge into a service booking.
Product Line
Four builds cover most export demand. The 4.2 metre deck at 141 HP on a 4,495 kg GVW is the city unit, priced to stay under a car licence in markets where that matters. The 5.6 metre deck at 141 HP is the volume seller, the one highway patrols, insurers and towing companies actually order. The 156 HP long deck adds torque for markets with long gradients and heavier casualty vehicles. Above that sits the Aumark S5 with a 185 or 210 HP Cummins, a 4.5 ton front and 8 ton rear axle on a 5,750 mm wheelbase, for buyers towing one-ton pickups and minibuses all day.
Emission level is the second choice. Euro 3 remains the standard export spec for most of Africa and the Middle East, Euro 4 and Euro 5 for markets with an inspection regime at registration. LHD is standard from the factory and RHD conversion suits Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Indonesia, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Not sure which build fits your routes? Send the heaviest vehicle you expect to recover, the daily call volume and a photo of the streets you work, and we will spec the deck and the underlift for you.
