The high altitude operation truck (buyers call it a bucket truck, boom truck or cherry picker depending on where they are from) replaces scaffolding, crane baskets and ladders for any job done above the second floor.
Do the math on the alternatives for a moment. A scaffolding crew of four needs most of a day to build and strike a tower. A self-propelled boom lift cannot legally drive on public roads at 80 km/h -- you are paying a trailer and a driver every time it moves.
